New Course: Chargemaster & Charge Capture

New Course: DDE Basics

Direct Data Entry, or DDE, was designed for Medicare Part A providers as a part of the Fiscal Intermediary Shared System (FISS). Providers can verify eligibility, submit claims, corrections, and cancellations and also check claims status. In this foundational course, Revenue Cycle Analyst Sandy Sage provides instructions for navigating this sometimes cumbersome and complex system. These two terms, DDE and FISS are used interchangeably.

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Identify your Medicare Administrative Contractor’s sign in process.
  • List at least four options in the Inquiry Screen.
  • Describe how to change a line when correcting a claim.
  • Describe where to find reports in the DDE system.
  • Identify the function keys used in the DDE system and how they are used.
