Restraint Procedures

Patients have the right to be free from physical or mental abuse, and corporal punishment. The proper use of restraint is extremely important to ensure the health and safety of your patients. Restraints shall be used only when necessary and not as coercion, discipline, convenience, or retaliation. By following prescribed procedures, you minimize the potential for unintended neglect or abuse. Finally, accurate completion of the required documentation protects you and your facility from potential malpractice litigation.
