New Course: Coding & Billing for Behavioral Health Services in RHCs

This course is designed for medical and mental health staff in Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) namely clinical providers, facility managers, and revenue cycle staff who need to develop an understanding of how to document, code, and properly bill for behavioral health services to various payers. Additionally, if it is a goal of the RHC to truly integrate medical and mental health services, this session can help you capture compliant revenue for services that may not have been billable in the past.
Suggested Audience: RHC leaders/directors/administration/managers, Providers/Practitioners, Billers, and Coders.
Upon completion of this training, you should be able to:
- Recognize compliant coding and billing options for psychiatric diagnostic evaluations, psychotherapy, interactive complexity, psychotherapy for crisis, and health and behavior assessment/interventions.
- Identify common billing options for the screening and treatment of substance/opioid disorders and for integrating Medical/Behavioral health services.
- Summarize the content within the ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding & Reporting that is specific to BHI.
- Define the unique issues related to how RHCs get paid by CMS and private payers for behavioral health services.
- Identify various claims scenarios of overlapping between medical and behavioral health related including CMS-covered preventive services.
