Continuing Education Information

HomeTown Health’s vision is to support rural healthcare organizations in providing high quality, accessible, and competitive care through a heavily regulated and increasingly technology-dependent environment. As such, we work to provide a diverse offering of Continuing Education Units for healthcare professionals.

Types of CEUs Available

AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders): Some HomeTown Health programs have prior approval of AAPC for continuing education hours. Granting of prior approval in no way constitutes endorsement by AAPC of the program content program sponsor. Programs that have met AAPC guidelines for CEUs will have more information within the course description.

AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants): While not an approved AAMA provider, some courses and training does align with the AAMA Topics that can help gain the up to 30 points of non-AAMA allowed during recertification. ACCME, ACPE, AMA, ANCC, APA: In support of improving patient care, some activities planned and implemented by HomeTown Health, LLC and USA’s College of Medicine Office of CME is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. If a course offers this additional continuing education, indicated in the course banner, you must answer question 13 of the Course Evaluation with the requested information. Next, you will then receive an email from the USA Office of CME within 14 days of completing the course. Finally, you must then complete the evaluation within the email to be directed to the site to print your certificate. 

Some activities also include AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Some activities also include APA - Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibility for the content of the programs. Approved courses will include further accreditation information within the course description.

ACHE (American College of Healthcare Executives): ACHE QECs can be earned through many of our live and virtual events. ACHE Qualified Education Credit must be related to healthcare management (i.e., it cannot be clinical, inspirational, or specific to the sponsoring organization). It can be earned through educational programs conducted or sponsored by any organization qualified to provide education programming in healthcare management. Programs may be sponsored by ACHE, chapters, or other qualified sources, whether the programming is face-to-face or distance offerings (webinars, online seminars, self-study courses, etc.). AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association): Please remember to check your AHIMA certification manual for CEU information and acceptance of AAPC credits. AHIMA does accept IACET CEUs if the education is HIM-related.

CPEs for CPAs (Continuing Professional Education (CPE) for Certified Public Accountants (CPAs)): The Georgia State Board of Accountancy does not pre-approve any providers or courses for continuing professional education. However, we believe the education will quality under various sections of the Board’s requirements. Grant Professionals Certification Institute (GPCI) Accredited Provider: HomeTown Health, LLC is a provider of training sessions / events / presentations that have been accepted in the GPCI Accepted Education Program. Full participation in the above outlined presentations is applicable for indicated GPCI Education Points towards acquiring the GPC (Grant Professional Certified) or in maintaining their GPC certification.

GPCI administers the GPC, an accredited certification program that measures an individual’s ability to provide quality grant-related services within an ethical framework. GPCI accomplishes its mission through the identification of grant professionals who display outstanding expertise and ethical practices as measured by a psychometrically valid and reliable assessment tool. HCCA - CCB (Health Care Compliance Association - Compliance Certification Board): Many of HomeTown Health's accredited offerings meet at least one subject area identified by CCB as relevant to compliance certification. CCB accepts relevant CEUs from any organization or event sponsor. CEUs can be earned from any organization, not just from SCCE or HCCA. Candidates must earn and submit 20 CCB CEUs in order to apply to sit for a CCB examination and 40 CCB CEUs every two years for certification renewal. CCB CEUs are awarded on a 50 min hour and must include at least 50% earned from “live” training events, which include face-to-face training events or real-time web conferences, and within the correct time frame (i.e., be earned within the 12 month period preceding the date of the exam for applicants, and be earned within your certification renewal period if certified.) HRCI (HR Certification Institute): While we are not a pre-approved provider of HRCI credits, some of our courses do align with the HRCI Exam Content Outline and will contribute to your knowledge of the HR Profession. Learn more about the HRCI Standard here.

IACET (International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training): As an IACET Authorized Provider, HomeTown Health, LLC offers CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standard. NAB: NAB CEs can be earned through many of our live and virtual events. HTHU has educational offerings that have been reviewed and approved by the National Continuing Education Review Service (NCERS) of the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB). Approved program information and approval number can be found within each course description.

RUs for Board Training Credits: Recertification Units recognized by the Georgia Rural Health Innovation Center. HomeTown Health's Hospital Board & Leadership (HBL) Training Program for rural hospitals that is certified by the Georgia Rural Health Innovation Center as having satisfied the training requirements found in O.C.G.A. § 31-2-16. Live and online options are also provided which are approved-RUs.

Submission of CE Credits To The Agency Of Choice

Learners will get a completion certificate at the conclusion of all qualified education events, subject to completing all necessary requirements as specific by the accreditation body/agency. Learners can self-submit completion certificates to their agency/organization/board of choice per the guidance/requirements of that agency.

CE Broker: HTHU is a registered provider of education via CE Broker, able to submit CEU records on behalf of learners for some state boards/organizations.
