Emergency Department Billing 101
This course will provide a foundation of terminology and common services provided by a hospital's Emergency Department. It will provide a “101” detailing what can be billed during an ER visit, how modifiers are to be used and when, and how to determine the ER level. Further discussed is how observation is to be billed and the requirements for coverage, as well as what charges are bundled. It will close with some guidance and best practices for efficient and compliant billing practices.

MUEs (Medically Unlikely Edits) Billing 101
This course is designed to explain the Medically Unlikely Edit (MUE) program developed by CMS and how billers should handle MUE denials. The course is part of a set of support courses intended to provide support to hospital and health systems that are interested in improving their billing for various services or departments, including RHC, Swing Bed, Emergency Department, Telehealth Services, Pharmacy, and Transitional Care Management. Each course is meant to serve both new and experienced billers in ensuring they are current on billing requirements and best practices for each particular area common to rural hospitals.

RHC Billing 101: Proper Billing for CCM & TCM Services Within the RHC
Rural Health Clinics play a prominent role in the overall care coordination of our chronically ill rural residents. The type of services that can be provided within the RHC differ from other non-RHC providers, as well as the unique billing codes and processes. The following information is designed to assist RHC staff in understanding what care coordination services are available within the RHC, how to properly bill these services, and what to prepare for from a reimbursement standpoint. It will also assist staff in understanding common hurdles and errors that can occur when billing these services, and what to do to address those errors and avoid denials.

Telehealth Billing During COVID-19
Telehealth has changed dramatically during the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) which began March 2020. This course will explain what has changed and how the billing process has evolved. Telehealth expansion started during the PHE will likely remain expanded in the future but that has yet to be decided by CMS.
