School of Nursing Continuing Education

HomeTown Health University is pleased to offer a bundled set of courses available in our School of Nursing Continuing Education to meet the continuing competency requirements of nurses.  The new courses can be included in an organization’s HTHU Annual Education program, as specialty education for nurses, or purchased separately by individual licencees.  Through online education, nurses can work through coursework at their own pace in a variety of formats.

HTHU provides accredited continuing education under IACET, an accepted continuing education provider by several state boards.  For more information about IACET, please visit:  (The following states recognize IACET CEUs by their Board of Nursing: Georgia, Ohio, Massachusetts, and Montana. If your State Board of Nursing recognizes CEUs approved by other state Licensing Boards, HTHU can contact your state board upon request to ensure these CEUs are recognized on your behalf.)

In 2014, the Georgia Board of Nursing announced new continuing competency requirements.  To meet the requirement beginning with the biennium ending 2016, each RN and APRN licensee can complete 30 hours of continuing education. Additional requirements are being crafted for LPNs, who can complete 20 hours of continuing education  to satisfy the requirement.  This new requirement means that  licensees need to begin to accumulate their hours now, so that they have met the needs for the next biennial license renewal period.  (*Please note that some nurses are able to this fulfill the requirement in other ways. IACET CEUs versus ICAHN Nurse Contact Hours
IACET CEUs: HTHU provides accredited continuing education under IACET, an accepted continuing education provider by several state boards. For more information about IACET, please visit: The following states recognize IACET CEUS by their Board of Nursing: Georgia, Ohio, Massachusetts. If your state board of Nursing recognized CEUs approves by other state’s Licensing Boards, HTHU can contact your state board upon request to ensure these CEUs are recognized on your behalf.

ICAHN Nurse Contact Hours: The Clinical Webinar Series courses are provided in collaboration with i-NET/Illinois Network of Education & Training (OH-350, 1/1/2017), an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Ohio Nurses Association (OBN-001-91), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.  This results in the awarding of Nurse Contact Hours.  This accreditation may be accepted by other states as well; we recommend contacting your state board.

If you have questions about the accreditation of a particular course, please contact a member of the HTHU team.
